I'm not talking about being a hench fighter...It's all about the jeans..
Before Christmas I got the urge to get me some battered jeans for wearing dressed up and down, so far it's been mainly up..(which I usually tend to steer towards anyway).. My mission (guess where the name Mission;Style came from..?) was to hunt down the perfect pair.
Jean shopping for most people is pretty hellish, getting the right cut can totally change the look and flatter (or not) your figure...I tend to go for slim fit or skinny jeans just because I'm vertically challenged and have a petite frame...This means my main challenge is the length, there isn't a great range of petite jeans out there and although I know a great tailor, it does whack another £20 on to the price of the jeans!
After numerous changing room episodes (and a little tantrum where I very nearly gave up), I found the perfect pair for me. Granted, they were about a foot too long but I figured lopping the bottom off them with my kitchen scissors would still be in-keeping with the whole look... TaDa!! Lesson learnt from hacking the bottom off is leave a couple of centimetres more that you want because a) they will shrink a bit, b) fray, c) look good turned up too..(you are very welcome)!
Since buying them I have literally kicked the ass out of them, they are one of those pairs that as soon as they are out of the wash, they are back on again..
Here's a ridiculous amount of outfits with said jeans ..;

Not quite sure what's with the face on this one... |
Interesting mix in the picture above... I really liked the Zara coats with the leather sleeves but couldn't quite run to one so, I mixed this up myself (the Blue Peter of styling). I wore an old French Connection swing jacket/top with a leather jacket underneath..
I wore this in the week, suit jacket was a seriously good buy from Topshop last year, the leopard print shoes from Dune (again last year) and the shirt was new this week from ASOS. On the shirt...it's ASOS own label and amazing fabric.. it's got a double collar and gathered detail at the back. I will absolutely be buying it in other colours as it's really versatile! You can buy it here for just £25!!
Again, a little bit dressed up but, the shoes are new and I really want to wear them! This is what I'm wearing for dinner tonight (hoping the restaurant has under floor heating to keep my feet above freezing, blue feet will not finish the look off well!) On the shoes, they also arrived from ASOS this week... I have spent what feels like a lifetime looking for the perfect black strappy shoe and stumbled across these earlier in the week (added to basket in a jiffy), no doubt they will shred my feet on the first outing...no pain no gain and all that! You can buy them here.
There's a lot of battered/ripped denim about... Here's a few of the ones I have spotted on the High Street that are very reasonable..;
Moto Vintage Lacey Rip Jean - Topshop buy here. |
These are classed as "boy" fit and look fairly straight legged - buy here from Mango. |
Another Mango pair - if they are good enough for Miranda Kerr then I'm all over them..buy here (I will be) |
Loving this combination - both from Warehouse. Buy the top here, jeans buy here. |
Do you have a pair of jeans you love? Have you invested in "battered and ripped"...?
Well that's me for today...Enjoy your Saturday

Love 'em! Need a pair! x
ReplyDeleteThanks Belle! Major flaw in my blog post though...didn't mention that my cherished pair were from Zara! x
DeleteHi Karen just came across your blog from WIWT I follow you on there, my blogs pretty new too so know what it's like. I'm loving battered up jeans at the minute too although I'm favouring boyfriend style. Where are your jeans from, they are a perfect blue shade?
ReplyDeleteHi!! I just realised I committed a huge blogger fail, sorry they are from Zara but before Crimbo.. I love the boyfriend fit but they don't love me! What's your blog address? x
DeleteIt's http://treasuresnpleasures.blogspot.co.uk But if you click on it above it will take you there. Llove Zara for jeans at the minute in fact I just love Zara for everything at the minute! X
Deletehey
ReplyDeleteI really like the cut of those jeans. I only have boyfriend cut ripped effect. The only seems to work with flats & not heels. Think i need to invest in some skinny too.
Thanks style guru
