From Desk to Drinks...

....for after work drinks! 

This is usually where panic sets in, right? What can I throw on that's acceptable for work (basing this on working in an office of course, if you're motorway maintenance/firefighter etc, this may not be completely up your street)...?! 

I've had my fair share of early morning meltdowns when trying to throw together the outfit that takes me right from work to 'just one' after work drink.... Now that I've done some research and got my head 'round it, I can't see why I created such a fuss (disclaimer if Hubby is reading this - it is important to me and no, it's not 'drama'!!) 

The Research...

Well, this research kinda' came to me... A few weeks ago I was contacted by Monsoon and asked if I'd like to put some looks together from their website which, coincided with one of those afore mentioned early morning 'dramas' so, what better subject to cover based on 1) The festive season where drinks are flowing after work and 2) Saving my marriage...*exaggerates for effect*!

Soooo, I have created 2 looks that are completely interchangeable and, ALL available from Monsoon/Accessorise;

Blouse - it's black, embellished on the shoulder and massively versatile - buy here.

The jacquard skirt that would also look good on Christmas Day itself as well as dressed down with black boots and a roll neck! - buy here.

The necklace (which we all know I'm a total sucker for), it's gorgeous and would look amazing over a plain white shirt, this seasons sweatshirt/battered jean combo, a dress...(cost per wear justified, I think so!) - buy here.

The Crepe blazer is a must, every girl should have at least ONE decent black blazer in their wardrobe (and you'll be thankful for it when trying to grab a cab later on) - buy here.
This gold hardcase clutch would get some serious use again, it's one of those 'have forever' clutches that you'll pull out in years to come for adding super glamness to the simplest of outfits- buy here.
The cream blouse is easy for work and fairly understated until you add accessories. A great basic, no doubt - buy here.

The earrings, ohhhhh, the earrings...I want these so bad! Yes, they change the look from office to drinks and yes, they'd go with everything I own, FACT! - buy here.

My advice would be to; 1) Add the accessories post work along with the lippy and blush! 2) Ditch the great big work bag you drag around and swap it for a fab clutch. 3) Chuck some fabulous heels in your (enormous) work bag that morning and switch them under the desk before hitting the town.
