It's happened, I've invested in flats...Something that's not my running trainers, Converse or flip flops...
If you have been with Mission;Style for a while you'll know that I'm barely 5 foot 1 with backcombed roots so, flats are usually a NO GO in my world!
The whole brogue/masculine style thing is really on my radar at the moment for so many reasons and dare I say, there's an element of needing some practicality!! I'm a long way off ditching my heels but, chasing around after my 1 year old (and increasingly mobile) nephew, isn't easy in 4 inch spikes!
I've been researching the choice out there on the High Street and (much to my mum's surprise and, quite possibly mine), the best selection has to be in Clarks!!!
The last time I went to Clarks I was being fitted for school shoes and had my feet measured in that weird machine which, I can only think was my first experience of claustrophobia!
After much deliberation (and not a feet squeezing machine in sight), I settled for the Hamble Oak in Wine however, these little lot were also on the short list and let's be honest, at least one of them will be mine one day soon...;
These ones are from the Mary Portas (who I love BTW) collection, called La Promenade. Buy
here.
The black patent and leopard print Hambles, buy
here.
These, these are gorgeous on... I was sooo torn by Hotel Diva! Buy
here.
(Hotel) DISCO, that's what they're called, a happy medium and so wearable! Buy
here.
The black version of mine....Buy here.
The new brogues went on their maiden voyage today, a quick (honestly) trip to the shops (because I forgot to take my 25% off H&M voucher yesterday and it runs out today...). I have to say on the comfort front, 20/10!!! No rubbing and (this is happening) the comfort sole is like walking on cotton wool!!!

Nice work Clarks, MASSIVE LOVE for your brogue collection oh annnd, the staff in your Cardiff store - superior service, well worth mentioning!!
Anyone else investing in brogues? Which one of these beauties is going on your wish list?
Lovin this outfit Karen, I'm on the same page as you - I'm always in heels and have never imagined wearing flats but after seeing these - which look fab on you btw! I may need to invest in a pair. Walking on cotton wool sounds like absolute heaven and something my poor feet could do with at the moment.
ReplyDeleteLOVE the new look blog too
Thanks Paulina! I know you love the heels too, I swoon over your heel art! I can so recommend these ones, stupidly comfy...if they last speed shopping without drawing blood, they are winners!!!
DeleteThanks - I love it, it feels all new ;-) x
OMG have you seen my future post? I have been umming and arring over which pair I am going to buy (yours being one!) I love the black and white pair they have too! lush xxx
ReplyDeleteHaha, noooo! We are clearly both stalking the brogue!! ;-) I love the black and white ones too actually... I just figured I'd get more wear out of these ones... I think the metallic ones are next! xx

x
T.H.A.N.K.S and erm, you were the one who swayed me!! Lifts are ok, escalators going down, there's a whole new phobia for you! x
DeleteGood lord Karen I would never have put you down as having a 1 year old. You always look so immaculate. Love the brogues. I have a pair from last year but have yet to venture out in them x
ReplyDeleteAh, I don't... he's my nephew, thank you though! ;-)
DeleteI think the brogue is gonna' get some serious wear this season!! x
Phew! I was asking myself how you can wear heels with a toddler all the time when I struggle for 30 minutes these days and my children are all grown up. You're on a slippery slope.....don't get too use to the flats and give up those wonderful shoes you keep showing us!
DeleteLol at the one year old comment above, those heels don't lend themselves to toddler chasing, I should know I've had to ditch most of mine!! Great choice Karen, but I have to say I don't wear mine as much as I thought I would, perhaps I need a darker pair (mine are beige and dusty pink) but I don't need to buy anymore shoes! X
ReplyDeleteI always remember that as your strap line, I've kept it up as long as I could! ;-)
DeleteI was contemplating beige...You always need shoes Trea xx
